"People with fair skin and eye color, such as Charlize and her mother, need to be extra careful in the sun," says Arielle Kauvar, M.D., clinical professor of dermatology at New York University Medical Center in New York City. You can also see from the photo that Gerda has suffered some sun damage in her décolleté area.
If, like Charlize, you have a creamy, fair complexion, but you're starting to see some sun damage in often-exposed areas, or you see evidence of the sun's heavy hand on your mother's skin, be sure to take precautions. "Avoiding excessive sun exposure, wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen, and using a product that contains an antioxidant, such as green tea or phloretin, under your daily sunscreen, will help prevent skin from becoming wrinkled or blotchy," Dr. Kauvar says.

This mother and daughter have lips that are nearly identical. "Like all the kids in these photos, though, Kim's lips are a bit fuller than her mom's," says Suzanne Kilmer, M.D., associate clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California, Davis.
If you think your mother's lips are losing significant volume as she ages, and you're worried that yours will do the same, you can talk to your dermatologist about filler options you might consider in the future. Short of that, however, the best route is to use lip glosses and treatments that help plump up the lips temporarily. They often contain ingredients such as cinnamon or wintergreen extract that slightly irritate the lips, enlarging them for a short period.
